Sally Wood, Chief Wordsmith
Having worked in marketing, communications and public relations roles for over ten years, Sally Wood is well-versed in just about every aspect of message delivery. Her professional experience includes: media liaison and advice for senior level executives including crisis communications; copywriting for web, social media and publications for a wide range of audiences; internal and external stakeholder communication; marketing and public relations campaigns that deliver growth and improve brand awareness; customer relationship marketing and customer value generation; event management including launches, trade shows and workshops; budgeting; and strategic planning, including development of marketing and business plans.
Sal established Wordly in 2014 and has been our Chief Wordsmith ever since. Prior to this, Sal spent five years in a high-level corporate communications role at a professional services firm with over 5,000 employees and 70 offices worldwide. The majority of her time was spent translating high-nerd (a.k.a. highly technical jargon written by mad-scientist like engineers) into easily digestible material for the masses.
Before Sal’s appointment at the highly corporate professional services firm, she was an account director at a boutique public relations agency, responsible for anywhere up to 12 client accounts at a time. In this role, she rolled up her sleeves and got her hands dirty. There were PR campaigns to launch The Simpson’s 20th anniversary products (which just happened to involve carting life-sized Simpson’s figurines around the country); people (and media) wrangling at Flemington’s birdcage during the Melbourne Cup Carnival; campervan road trains through Australia’s capital cities; and countless follow-up calls to not-so-interested journalists.
Somehow, in the midst of all that, Sal also managed to get stuck into some study, including a Bachelor of Law (she came to her senses and realised Law just wasn’t for her), a Bachelor of Arts, and a Postgraduate Bachelor of Letters (Journalism and Public Relations). Sal’s even got a novel on the go!
Hannah Matchett, Copywriter
With over four years’ experience across content creation, marketing and corporate communications Hannah Matchett is an avid word wielder. Having dabbled in a Law and Psychology degree, she eventually decided to pursue her passion for written expression and switched to a Journalism degree – much to her parents’ dismay.
After graduating with a degree in Media and Communications (Journalism) Hannah has developed a diverse portfolio of content from punchy online editorial through to strategic communication plans. She thrives off working closely with a broad range of clients to breathe life into the marketing of their products and projects. Hannah can whip up fresh and enthralling copy for any medium you require – heck, she’ll even write your Christmas cards for you.
A questionable Aquarius, quintessential INFP and in-denial lactose intolerant, Hannah can typically be found devouring a Florence Given read while sipping an almond milk iced coffee with extra ice-cream.
